Shared workspaces were on the rise with all of them offering a somewhat stylish, modern design aesthetic complete with light food and drink amenities to draw in urban independents. What was missing, however, was a deeper idea with a story to bring meaning and soul to their spaces.
We strongly believe a name carries an incredibly important, critical role in the brand and set out to offer up a more experiential options to create an experience in and of itself. And the name North House does just that. It immediately sets the context and comfort of “home” with a sense of location being in the north. The expression and personality of the brand came to life through a tall tale written to capture life in the neighborhood before people were ever around. We wrote a long-form narrative creating a storybook our guests can walk right into. We title this book Way Out There cementing the idea we do things a little differently. It tells the tale of how the hollow came to be with each character coming to life in vivid detail along with their unique personalities. We reimagined vintage, engraved illustrations with a twist—one quintessential human element to anthropomorphize each creature pulling them closer to our world so our guests could identify with each of them. Other features amplify this notion, too, through an oversized, cropped clock on the wall with jumbled numbers to the cocktails we serve and game simulators we have to balance work and play. Lastly, the North House serves as a source of pride for our agency as well as a playground for each employee who can take advantage of this unique experience daily.
